Funded by the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, this CEMETS iLab is set to support education reform in the state of Indiana.
Supporting education reform in the US
Inspired by the Swiss apprenticeship system, Indiana is creating a new professional education and training pathway alongside the academic (college) route.
Since 2016, Indiana’s experts and leaders have been studying the Swiss education model and participated in various CEMETS Summer Institutes to deepen their understanding. The launch of the iLab marks a significant step in their efforts to transform the state’s education system.
The iLab brings together dynamic teams from across sectors
This includes higher education, high school, policy, governance, and industry.
It fosters collaboration among more than 200 leaders committed to driving education reform in Indiana.
The format: online coursework and expert guidance by CEMETS alongside local implementation work
The iLab features an online course with lectures and materials facilitated by CEMETS, alongside expert guidance from Dr. Katie Caves and Prof. Dr. Ursula Renold, both virtually and in-person.
On the ground, various committees focus on specific implementation goals, working under the leadership of the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation to drive the reform forward.
The goal: to build a new professional education and training pathway in Indiana
The iLab aims to drive forward the implementation plan and priorities created by the Indiana team at the CEMETS Summer Insitute 2023, as well as broaden the community of experts and build capacity in Indiana’s education system.
The iLab launched in 2024 and is ongoing
